A few weeks ago, the radio broke, and we were shocked by how many of you reached out, some saying you listen every day. We always assumed it was a minor feature (we don’t track behavior) but clearly it matters. So, we decided to dedicate some time to improving it.
Before, our MP3 player could only play a single album. Now, it’s completely redesigned: it can handle full playlists, mix different artists, and even save your playlist with a direct link – no more losing it when you refresh the page.
New filters, more control!
The old Radio just generated random playlists. Now, you can focus on exactly what you want: a specific subgenre of punk, music from Sweden, or any combination. Genre filters and country filters put you in control.
And there’s a new search engine to quickly find bands or albums. This search will eventually expand into a full-featured tool, replacing the default forum search so you can explore music – not just forum threads.
Big plans ahead
We’re aiming to build something on the level of Spotify. A player that stays with you as you browse the forum, never interrupting your music. First step: replace the outdated Wimpy player with our own.
Eventually, you’ll have full playlist control, smarter suggestions, and better random playlists based on your listening habits. Any tracking will always have an opt-out option.
The journey is just starting – and it’s going to be loud.
